Like everyone Duchy Uzemain passed into French territory in 1766. Moreover, in the eighteenth century, many babies were born Uzemain above named Leopold. Duke Leopold in 1698 authorized the creation of a Uzemain Forge, which contributed to the magnification of the village and its people during the eighteenth and nineteenth century. This era has been a real ordeal for Lorraine, wedged between the Holy Roman Empire and the Kingdom of France, who nibbled slowly in its territory.
